Caught

School class posing in Arashiyama, Kyoto...

As you might know by now, I like to join as the backup photographer in these group portraits, whenever I spot one. I could probably fill an album with them by now. With these shots I try to go unnoticed. Most of the time that works, because the audience is focussing on their own camera, saying cheese. With this one the 'going unnoticed' failed (first time really) - the photographer was still setting up, so I was a bit too early and I had the 35mm on, so I had to get quite close - and I got caught. One of the kids spotted me and started yelling. Then - already feeling somewhat embarrassed, cause clearly I wasn't the designated photographer - they almost all joined in, leading to this jolly shot. Even the teacher (on the right) seemed to enjoy the foreign attention.
